Dr. Dwyer has practiced at Genesee Valley Equine Clinic since graduating from Cornell in 1983. She has been director and principal owner of the clinic since GVEC founder Dr. Robert Pierson retired in 1996.
Dr. Dwyer grew up in Manlius, New York, where she competed in rallies and combined training as a charter member of the Limestone Pony Club. She earned a degree in Biology from Mount Holyoke College in 1975. Following college she spent time as a groom and exercise rider at several east coast racetracks.
Since entering equine practice Dr. Dwyer has pursued ongoing interests in equine ophthalmology and practice management. She often shares the fruits of her research and expertise on these topics at national professional conferences. Dr. Dwyer is the current vice president of AAEP (American Association of Equine Practitioners), and will become the organization's president-elect in 2012.
Dr. Dwyer enjoys theater, reading, and playing her cello in her spare time.
