Dr. Amy Todd

Dr. Amy Todd is GVEC’s newest associate, having joined our staff in June, 2007. Dr. Todd spent a year with us as an intern, receiving practical training and delivering veterinary services to our patients.

Dr. Todd is a lifelong horsewoman who was on a horse before she could walk. As a child she showed horses in hunter and equitation classes and then worked as a groom and assistant trainer for her family’s stable of standardbred racehorses in Freehold, New Jersey. She enrolled in college at Penn State University and was awarded her degree in Animal Bioscience in 2002 with highest honors. Dr. Todd then went on to attend veterinary school at Cornell.

While at Cornell she was a student technician in the Equine and Farm Animal Hospital as well as a volunteer for the foal team and the colic crew. In her spare time she helped staff the Cornell Pet Loss Support hotline and raced bicycles competitively. She graduated near the top of her class and was awarded numerous honors for her academic achievements.

Dr. Todd has a strong interest in equine internal medicine, nutrition, and foal care. She enjoys educating horse owners and will be teaching some of our Short Courses and expanding our written handouts. She is a dedicated and skilled horsewoman, and we know that you will enjoy meeting her at the clinic or on calls.

We will be keeping her pretty busy, but watch for her on the roads around Rochester—she is a keen cyclist, and she plans on continuing to bike our beautiful country lanes. When she is not biking or doing veterinary work, Dr. Todd enjoys hiking, embroidery, and relaxing with her two cats, Samson and Simon.
