Dr. Smith is originally from the upper peninsula of Michigan and Minnesota, where she grew up riding and showing horses. She graduated from Winona State University with a Cell and Molecular Biology degree, allowing her to work in the research field for twelve years. While working, she volunteered at therapeutic riding centers in Wisconsin and Iowa and rekindled her love for horses. Loryn attended veterinary school at Ross University. She was able to return to one of her home states for her clinical year at the University of Minnesota. Before joining the team at GVEC, she completed an internship at Piedmont Equine Practice in Virginia. Loryn is still working on finding her niche in practice, but knows that she enjoys using the endoscope and gastroscope and is enthused about emergency work! She lives in Scottsville with her two dogs Arti and Auggie.
