Occasionally your veterinarian will choose to refer a case to our clinic for further diagnostics or treatment. Your horse may be sent to us for endoscopy, radiology, spinal tap or trans-tracheal wash. Referrals for treatment of impaction colic, corneal infections, wound care and sinusitis are common. We also welcome mares and their foals for AI breeding. Our facility in Scottsville includes an eight stall barn and board fenced paddocks for safe individual turn out. At Genesee Valley Equine Clinic our caring, competent staff works in concert with your horse’s primary veterinarian to develop a plan for treatment while in the clinic and for follow up farm care. Referring veterinarians receive current updates on patient progress as well as detailed discharge instructions.
GVEC is in turn able to refer more complex cases to other clinics, including teaching universities and private hospitals. Our staff veterinarians maintain an excellent working relationship with clinicians and specialists, so that a wide range of options is available for the care of your horse.
