Ambulatory Services

mobile clinicA talented staff of equine practitioners, assistants and technicians provides the bulk of services offered by GVEC away from the clinic. Our four trucks are stocked with most of the medications and supplies found in the hospital so that patient treatment can begin at the first visit. Each truck is fully equipped for taking radiographs, performing ultrasonography, performing dentistry and much more. Medical records are carried on laptop computers so that historical information on patients is available at the touch of a few buttons.

Appointments for routine and elective work are scheduled from 8-5 Monday through Friday as well as from 8-5 on Saturdays from April-June. Our able office staff triages emergencies during the work week and our answering service forwards messages to the on-call veterinarian after hours. We are available 24/7 for prompt, professional response to horse owners and referring veterinarians. In addition to seeing our patients at “home” we also are able to provide veterinary services at local equestrian events.

Occasionally we have been called to assist with rescue situations. Several staff members have completed a course in technical large animal rescue. GVEC owns an Anderson sling, a state-of-the-art rescue and rehabilitation support, as well as a large animal lift and an equine glide. The lift can be used to quickly raise “down” animals in the field, and the glide can be used to move a horse that is unable to stand to a treatment facility.
