Megan Bernard, DVM, MS, DACT

Graduate of Cornell University (DVM and MS in Biomedical Sciences)
Member AAEP, AVMA, NYSVMS, SFT, ACT

Dr. Megan Bernard joins GVEC in January 2025 as a board-certified theriogenologist (DACT).

Originally from Massachusetts, Dr. Bernard received her bachelor’s degree at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She then moved to New York and attended Cornell University for veterinary school. During her veterinary education, Dr. Bernard also attained her master’s degree in biomedical sciences researching stem cell therapies.

After graduating with her DVM, Dr. Bernard worked in private practice in general ambulatory medicine, seeing both horses and livestock. In practice, Dr. Bernard developed a passion for reproductive medicine, and returned to Cornell for a residency in theriogenology. During her residency, Dr. Bernard was awarded a grant to research stem cell therapies with equine endometritis, a common condition of broodmares that affects pregnancy rates. When she wasn’t breeding or foaling out mares, Dr. Bernard worked part-time in shelter medicine, providing spay and neuter services throughout the Finger Lakes area.

Shortly after finishing residency, Dr. Bernard worked as a locum faculty at Iowa State University’s vet school before moving to Geneseo with her partner, Emily, and their three dogs and two cats. In her free time, Dr. Bernard loves running, hiking, and kayaking.

Dr. Bernard has special interests in subfertile mares, embryo transfer, and high-risk pregnancies, and is excited to bring specialty services to the clientele of Western New York!
